WORLD-RENOWNED OPERA ARTISTS HAVE ARRIVES TO ARMENIA On April 27-30 supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Armenia, A. Spendiarian Opera and Ballet National Academic theatre hosts the First International Opera Festival “Yerevan”, which is dedicated to the memory of a famous opera artist Gegham Grigoryan. The festival takes place under the high patronage of the First Lady of the Republic of Armenia Mrs. Rita Sargsyan. World-renowned opera stars are taking part in the “Yerevan” festival. The Artistic Director of the festival is the Artistic Director of A. Spendiarian Opera and Ballet National Academic Theatre, Honored Artist of RF Constantine Orbelian. On April 27 Hasmik Grigoryan /soprano, Lithuania/, Stephen Costello /tenor, USA/ and Rodion Pogossov /baritone, RF/ performed. Conductor – Constantine Orbelian. During the performance French, Italian and German opera arias were presented. Barbara Frittoli /soprano, Italy/ – a Metropolitan Opera world-famous artist and George Gagnidze /baritone, Georgia/ performed on April 28, with the participation of the Armenian State youth orchestra. Noteworthy that Barbara Frittoli is a singer at Metropolitan Opera, La Scala and Vienna State Opera. Conductor – Constantine Orbelian. On April 30 G. Verdi’s “La Traviata” will be presented, performed by Hasmik Torosyan /soprano/, Arnold Qocharyan /baritone/ and famous American opera tenor Stephen Costello. The performance will be lead by an invited conductor Chris Russman /United Kingdom/.
